Chinese Broom Shop (Acrylic on Canvas)

Chinese Broom Shop (Acrylic on Canvas) on Display at Tulip Noir Café, Indianapolis, Indiana

The inspiration for  this colorful painting comes from a Chinese broom shop at Hunan Normal University, in Changsha, China.  The painting is acrylic on canvas.   The visual impact of this simple Chinese broom shop is overwhelmingly fun.  Additionally, the slope of the hill leading up to the broom shop make the image even more dramatic.

Changsha, China

Changsha, China is the capital of Hunan, in south-central China.  Since 1948, this city of over seven million people has almost been completely rebuilt and the population has almost tripled.  Today, Changsha is a major interior port, a commercial, an industrial center, and home of Hunan Normal University.

Hunan Normal University

Hunan Normal University is in Changsha, China. Hunan Normal University, since its founding in 1938, has educated over 300,000 students.  During my studies at Herron School of Art, I traveled to China and this delightful city, as a part of the overseas study abroad program. For almost three weeks I studied fine art in China.  It was an exciting and inspirational trip.

Today, Hunan Normal University has 24 colleges and 880 professors.  Hunan Normal University situated between the Yuelu Mountains and the Xiangjiang River.  Currently, over 31,000 undergraduates, graduates and international students are studying on campus.

Originally, this painting was first exhibited in a juried art show at Herron School of Art and Indiana University Medical Group.
