Wendy Barrett and her son John remember exactly where they were on 9/11 when they first heard about the terrorist attacks. John was in his dorm at Ball State University in Muncie, IN and Wendy was at home in Noblesville, IN.
After he heard the news, John, a part-time firefighter with the Westfield-Washington Fire Department, decided to go on a fundraising run to New York City with fellow central Indiana police and firefighters.
Wendy had a series of firefighter prints that she made to sell at the World Police and Fire Games in Indianapolis during the summer of 2001 and still had many prints left. She made a call to the station where her painting is based and offered to sell the leftover prints to raise money.
